Jeremy Vess attended Chowan University, in Murfreesboro, NC, on a full-tuition Leadership Scholarship, where he studied Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance and a minor in Business, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2002. In addition, Jeremy also holds two master’s degrees, a Master of Theology and a Master of Sacred Studies, from Christian Life School of Theology, an independent Bible school and correspondence program based in Columbus, GA.
As a local singer/songwriter, Jeremy Vess was awarded the 2010 Albert H. Rehn Acoustic Music Performance & Artistry Grant for his work with acoustic instruments, songwriting, and charitable performances. Also in 2010 he released his first four-song recording titled, “Feather in the Wind” and an accompanying music video for the title track came out the following year. In early 2011, his band VESS released its first single “Wild Horses,” now available on iTunes. VESS recorded the track “10,000 Eyes” this spring. Jeremy continues writing and recording and walking the line between the genres of folk and rock with songs that carry a deep message and heavy convictions.
Jeremy has been leading worship teams for over ten years, throughout college and since with various churches that he has attended. He currently leads at Destiny City, a new church plant in Salisbury in 2010. He also spent five years in full-time youth ministry, working with teens and young adults.
Jeremy has been teaching beginner guitar lessons for some time now and enjoys the interactions with students and watching their progress. Jeremy’s motto in teaching is, “Did you learn anything and did you have fun?,” believing that a student is going to learn what he or she enjoys and is dedicated to learning.
Jeremy and his wife Jessica live in Salisbury, songwriting, performing, and training musicians and leaders for the next generation.
