Daniel Trivette
Daniel Trivette is currently the Director of Bands at West Rowan High School in Mt. Ulla, NC where he directs the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and the West Rowan Marching Falcons. He also serves as the percussion instructor for Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.
A NC Teaching Fellow, he received his B.S. Education degree from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. While at Western, Trivette performed with various instrumental and choral ensembles based in Cullowhee as well as occasional performances hosted by Emory University in Atlanta, GA and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. As a marching percussionist with the 350-member Pride of the Mountains Marching Band, he has performed in the Georgia Dome, the RCA Dome, and numerous venues across the southeast. Trivette also served as a Staff Coordinator for the organization, managing responsibilities for equipment, logistics and daily operation of the band as well as its summer programs.
Interested in various aspects of world music, Trivette has spent several years performing with a gamelan (a unique orchestra of tuned percussion instruments from the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali among others) and has studied gamelan techniques in San Jose, CA with renowned artist and suling player Burhan Sukarma.
Active as an educator, arranger and performer, Trivette works with many high schools and middle schools across the state. He can often be found performing, giving clinics on concert and marching percussion, repairing equipment and arranging music for high school marching bands. He has performed with the Asheville Symphony, the Salisbury-Rowan Symphony and regularly plays with area high school and community ensembles as well as the contemporary Christian group Jericho 7. He holds professional memberships with the Music Educators National Conference, North Carolina Music Educators Association, and Percussive Arts Society.
A Rowan County native, Trivette enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking, kayaking and rock climbing. An Eagle Scout himself, Trivette serves as an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 379 in Granite Quarry, NC.
